To celebrate this milestone occasion we're doing what we usually do - traveling! This time to the very romantic city of Paris, France as well as to our favorite european city - Rome.

This, my very first blog, is to document for ourselves, friends, and family the highlights of our trip. Expect lots of pictures of food, monuments, food, churches, museums; oh, and food.

Bon Jour Paris!

After a nice, uneventful flight from Seattle we arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport. Air France was great, the crew members were polite and accommodating, even to the point of shushing a couple of loud screaming children.

"Our" apartment is awesome!  The living area is large and comfortable while the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen are petite but with all the modern conveniences.  The best part is FREE phone calls to the U.S. using the apartment phone!  I thought I had read that in the paperwork but didn't really believe it.  If you want to see pictures, here's a link to the website.  It's exactly as pictured and there was a nice bottle of wine and fruit waiting for us.

We took a nice long and much needed nap then walked around to explore the neighborhood.  This location is perfect!  Lots of cafes, brasseries, bistros and bakeries very close to the apartment.  We can see the top of the Eiffel Tower as soon as we step out the front door - unbelievable!

Had a great snack at the Tribeca Cafe on Rue Cler with lots of other locals.  Thank goodness the waitstaff are patient with our horrible attempt at French.  Here's the extent of my French vocabulary - oui, merci, au revoir, si vous plait.  Scott is actually doing much better and even made a dinner reservation for tomorrow night.

Gotta love a place that allows dogs at the table!  Wish Bella were here.

Decided to eat dinner in tonight since we're still fighting off jet lag so we did a little grocery and bakery shopping on our way back to the apartment.  We looked just like a real Parisian couple with our baguette sticking out of our grocery bag and the smell of a roasted chicken wafting around us.  Yeah, right...

Okay, hope I didn't bore you all with this first blog post.  Stay tuned for tomorrow's adventures!
