To celebrate this milestone occasion we're doing what we usually do - traveling! This time to the very romantic city of Paris, France as well as to our favorite european city - Rome.

This, my very first blog, is to document for ourselves, friends, and family the highlights of our trip. Expect lots of pictures of food, monuments, food, churches, museums; oh, and food.

Serendipity at it's Best!

On every trip to Rome we usually witness something wonderful seemingly because we were in the right place at the right time.  Like the first time we went to see the Caravaggio's in the French church and it turned out to be a holy day of obligation celebrating the Ascension of Christ.  We became part of a very beautiful candlelight service, sitting up at the Altar with 12 French Priests singing the entire mass.

Today we were walking back to our apartment after lunch and one of the small churches had it's doors open.  These churches are really very tiny and not usually open for tourists.  When we walked in there were several nuns reciting the Rosary.  They were of the Bridgettine order named for St. Bridget of Sweden and the church was built on the home that she lived in for the last 19 years of her life.

Here are a few pictures that I was able to take and a video, but don't worry I begged forgiveness after taking each one :).

After they finished the Rosary they went on to sing (probably scripture, it was all in Italian) and their voices were angelic, just as you'd expect them to be.  I hope you can hear them clearly in the video.
